Anyone in AMMA, even in the AMM Department for that matter, probably knows that I am OBSESSED with leopard print! This staple look never seems to fall out of fashion, and for good reason.
Designers can create any patterns they so desire, but nothing can beat the colors and deigns created by the best designer of all: Mother Nature. Leopard print can easily transition from day to night, and the print looks great on every fashion item imaginable: blouses, bottoms, bags and shoes. Even today, I decided to rock my leopard and jeweled Betsey Johnson necklace.
Do you you have a favorite leopard printed garment or accessory in your closet?
Every once in a while in AMMA, we conduct Do-It-Yourself projects. Most recently, we cut up old T-shirts and fashioned turban-like headbands. Perhaps in the future, however, the club can tackle something similar to the denim skirt pictured above.
One would normally associate a high-waisted denim skirt with conservative mothers, but this piece packs perfectly placed sex appeal in all the right places. The distressing around the thighs offers peaks of skin, adding a unique and fun twist to the otherwise matronly garment.
If you want to distress your own old pair of jeans or a jean skirt, first slide a piece of card stock into the garment.
Next, grab a razor blade (be careful!) and slash at a horizontal angle. After a few slashes, wash your jeans to make the ripping effect more prominent.
You can also distress denim with sandpaper or a sandpaper block.
I learned all of this from watching a how-to video made by Free People at http://blog.freepeople.com/2012/05/video-distress-denim/.
Happy crafting!
